About me.
(Are you sure you want to know about me?
Well then, here goes....)
I must emphasize that being a Hellene is not a question of genes only. Genes have been mixed and matched during our (very ) long history, with our conquests of other lands and other peoples' conquest of our land. No. Being a Hellene is mailnly a state of MIND. As these pages unfold, maybe I can make you understand, honored guest, what that state of mind is. Sometimes, admittedly, it can become an unbearable burden, but most of the time it quite fits us.
I am sixty four years young. I was born and lived the first 23 years of my life in Alexandria, Egypt, where my grandparents had settled at the end of last century.
I graduated from the American University at Cairo (AUC) in 1959. I speak several languages but NOT German. So, naturally, I went and married a German. He is a wonderful man, his name is Klaus and he comes from Berlin. We've been happily married for 46 years.
We have a wonderful son, Detlef, a beautiful, talented daughter-in-law,
Maimun, from Malaysia, and two beautiful grandchildren: the Future Nobel Price for Physics 2030 named Klaus Danial and the Future President of United Europe, named Yasmin Athena. By the way, our common language is English.
Due to my husband's job (in Oil), we roamed all over the African and European continents for 26 years, lived in many countries for an average of three years at a time (much longer in some places). We've made many friends, learned a lot about different cultures and loved every minute of it. Now we have retired in Greece, in a small village called Agii Theodori, on the Saronic Gulf, about 12 miles East of Corinth.
Our village is ideally situated near a lot of Ancient sites of fame. (Athens, Corinth, Mycenea, Epidauros, Olympia, Delphi). We also enjoy a beautiful beach and crystal clear waters for swimming.
But enough about me. Let's see the rest of the house.
I am a Hellene. The West knows us as Greeks, the East mostly calls us Ionians. Sometimes the world give us other names, not fit to be printed. We seem to be arousing strong emotions in some people. Whatever the case is, we ARE Hellenes.

Life is good to us, and everything would have been perfect if we could have our children near. However, one can't have everything.
